Bank Negara Indonesia, Sigit Pramono, President Director

1. What makes your country attractive to investors?

Our country is considered to be one of the best places in which to invest. Last year, stock market investors enjoyed a very high return on their investment. Abundant resources available within Indonesia, combined with huge market potential will attract investment from overseas.

 2. What are the economic prospects for your country over the next three to five years?

With the improvement made by government, we believe our economy will continue to maintain its healthy growth in the coming years. With better law enforcement in place, we hope that the high costs of doing business often associated with Indonesia will no longer be the case in the near future.

 3. How do you foresee the financial sector in your country changing?

It has been and will remain the engine of the Indonesian real economic sector. In recent years, we have seen global names (such as banks and insurance companies) also play an important role in the local market. Unavoidably, competition is tougher. However, being the third largest bank in the country, with 943 outlets throughout the archipelago, we are confident that we could contribute more to economic development

 4. What role will your bank play in your country’s future development?

In the coming year, BNI plans to play a bigger part in investment in the infrastructure sector. We also plan to grow our business in mortgages (home financing), in line with the government’s ‘one-million house programme’. All of these efforts are directed toward our vision: to be a bank that all Indonesians can be proud of, leading in services and performance.
