Brian Caplen has been Editor of The Banker since 2003. He joined the Financial Times Group from Euromoney in 2000 where he was Executive Editor of Euromoney magazine for five years. He also worked as a business editor and journalist in Hong Kong and the Middle East for 10 years. He has travelled extensively and done numerous high level interviews with prime ministers, finance ministers, central bank governors and senior executives. He has a first class honours degree in Development Studies from the University of East Anglia.

Stephen Timewell has been Editor-in-Chief of The Banker since 2003. He is the magazine's Middle East specialist, and also covers retail banking. Stephen has written on all corners of the globe and covered a wide variety of industry issues, from investment banking to retail banking and technology. Prior to becoming Editor-in-Chief, he had been Assistant Editor since 1990; before that, Stephen was Editor of Arab Banker from 1988-90. In the 1980s he worked as a political economist for First Chicago and as a finance writer on Middle East Economic Digest.

Geraldine Lambe is Markets & Investment Banking Editor. She also manages the magazine's Environment & Resources section, which covers commodities and energy financing, project finance and climate change issues. Before joining The Banker, Geraldine was a freelance financial journalist, contributing to publications such as Financial News, The Sunday Times and The Financial Times. Geraldine began her career as a financial technology journalist, with roles including deputy editor of Banking Technology magazine. Geraldine has a Masters degree in International Relations.

Silvia Pavoni is Investment Editor for The Banker magazine, for which she writes on international financial centres, wealth management and securities services as well as organising the coverage of Latin America. Previously, Silvia was online editor of Public Private Finance, a news and data service for the public private partnerships community. She has also written reports for organizations such as the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK, and the Italian Trade Commission. She holds a BSc in Economics, Law and Finance from Ca'Foscari University of Venice.

Philip Alexander is the Finance Editor of The Banker, responsible for covering topics related to bank balance sheets, including risk management, debt restructuring and derivatives. He is also responsible for coordinating coverage of Europe. Previously he was deputy editor of Euromoney's Emerging Markets newspaper. Before moving into journalism, Philip edited credit research for international ratings agency Standard & Poor's. He has a doctorate in Modern History.

Michelle Price is Business Editor for The Banker, having joined as Trading and Technology Editor in February 2008. In addition to her coverage of technology, traders and trading platforms, and clearing and settlement, Michelle is also responsible for overseeing The Banker's Asia coverage. Previously, Michelle was senior writer at Information Age magazine, specialising in information security and financial services. Previous roles have included Assistant Editor of financial services technology publication STP Magazine. Michelle has an Honours degree in History from the University of Cambridge.

Charlie Corbett is The Banker's Economics Editor. He is also responsible for the magazine's coverage of African markets, as well as the treasury section of the magazine, which includes FX, payments and cash management. Previously, Charlie was editor of Australia-based pensions and investments magazine Investor Weekly. He also worked as equity capital markets editor for Australian finance and capital markets magazine, Insto. Before working in Australia, Charlie worked at Euromoney Institutional Investor as a capital markets reporter for EuroWeek.
Daniel Maalo is the Middle East & Africa Editor for The Banker. Previously, he worked as a researcher and writer on a report concerning Islamic finance in the United Kingdom for a boutique advisory group, GK Partners. Before that, Daniel spent almost two years in Bahrain, where he was based at the country’s Economic Development Board, working as a country editor for the Oxford Business Group. He has also contributed chapters to books on Anglo-Gulf relations. Daniel holds a BA from the University of Virginia in the United States and an MSc in History of International Relations from the London School of Economics & Political Science.
John Beck is Technology Editor for The Banker, responsible for coverage of retail and investment banking technology, including trading platforms, core systems and clearing and settlement. Previously, he was European reporter with financial technology magazine Waters. John has also worked as a reporter for Risk magazine, covering financial risk management and the global derivatives markets. He has an MA in English Language and Linguistics from the University of Edinburgh.
