1. An important external driver of Unibanka’s development will be Latvia’s accession to the EU in May. This will set new conditions for our work in a more international environment, and the acquisition of European funds for our local enterprises and municipalities will make a lot of new work.
The other good driver for our development is the financial group to which Unibanka belongs: Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB). Joining this large north European financial group gives us new experience for work in both international and local markets. Using SEB experience and policies in different fields of business gives Unibanka new opportunities for more effective work.
2. Unibanka’s parent group has set a strategy for being the leading bank in north Europe, not central Europe. And Unibanka is operating only in Latvia’s market, so changes in the European banking system will have more effect on SEB banks in Germany and Poland, not in Latvia. We concentrate on work in our local market to make the SEB brand strong here.
