Project 2015 is exciting because retail banking is, in our view, changing significantly and the shifts in technologies and attitudes taking place at present will not only radically change the customer interface in retail but will change the face of banking overall. How banking will change is not set in stone and will depend on customer reactions, hence the Project 2015 blog site is a vital ingredient in better understanding the diverse views and changes taking place.

In 2003 SAP met with senior bankers to discuss what SAP saw as the breaking up of the value chain in banking. We discussed newly evolving business models and the tools banks would require to manage and build their profitable future. At their suggestion we created forums for debate which are key inputs to SAP's committed long term investments in the Business Process Platform for banks and ongoing developments of banking applications. Since 2003 the industry has already experienced change and we believe that it is the right time to extend and broaden the debate particularly in worldwide retail banking. The Banker is a great vehicle for this which is why we are delighted to sponsor Project 2015 and heavily contribute to the program of activities through 2007.
