ASB Bank

ASB Bank has once again beaten its rivals in New Zealand to the award both because of its high degree of profitability and because of its very successful use of technology.

The year 2002 marked the third consecutive year of net profit growth above 20% for the bank. This was a considerable achievement in difficult conditions caused by the global economic slowdown.

The bank’s successful use of the latest technology has underpinned its success. Beyond a high-powered internet banking product, ASB Bank introduced pre-paid transactions via cash machines and third-generation mobile phone banking. Enhancements to its internet banking offering last year led to a hefty gains in personal and business clients as well as total transaction volume.

“Service excellence coupled with strong growth and productivity gains remain central to ASB Bank’s success. Our commitment to customer satisfaction, leading edge technology and community initiatives continue to receive wide recognition,” said Hugh Burrett, the bank’s managing director.
