The record year that Argentina's banks had in 2010 pushed its Buenos Aires-based lender to the top of The Banker's return on capital (ROC) and return on assets (ROA) rankings. Other emerging markets' financial centres have scored well. Indonesia and its capital, Jakarta, are gaining ground, as is Doha, in Qatar. Perhaps unsurprisingly, no leading US or European international financial centres appear amongst the best performing jurisdictions by ROC or ROA ratios.
