It’s that time of year again… the Bank of the Year Awards
Join us (virtually) as we raise our glasses to the banks that outshone their peers in terms of performance, strategic initiatives and response to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021.
Normally at this time of year we would be dusting off our glad rags and making our way to a glamorous venue to welcome the Bank of the Year winners from around the world to London to celebrate their great successes.
However, for the second year running, we are hosting our awards ceremony virtually. While we do relish the opportunity to meet all the victors, this gives us the opportunity to acclaim the impressive achievements of the banking world’s luminaries with many more of our readers.
In what has been a tumultuous and tough year, to say the least, we have seen banks rise to the challenge – as evidenced by the multitude of inspiring submissions that we received yet again this year from more than 130 countries. There seems to be a great levelling up among institutions, with both small and large exhibiting a nimbleness and ability to adapt to the new normal that we are facing today.
We have seen how banks worldwide have been willing to go the extra mile for their customers, whether retail, small and medium-sized enterprises, corporates and even governments, to support them and the wider society through the Covid-19 pandemic. They have also built new digital products and services, leveraged fintech partnerships and become faster to market and more innovative.
They have also ramped up their offerings in sustainability, as well as embedding environmental, social and governance criteria in almost everything they do. They have rethought their social role and their commitment to building a more sustainable and inclusive world has shone through during the past 12-18 months.
It is our considerable pleasure to announce the winners on Wednesday, December 1, starting at 8:00 GMT with Asia. Following the sun across the globe, we announce the Middle East and Africa winners at 11:00 GMT, western and central and eastern Europe at 14:00 GMT, Americas at 16:00 GMT, and finish the day with the Global Bank of the Year announcement, as well as the winners of the Banking in the Community award and Financial Inclusion, at 18:00 GMT.
