Improved connectivity to remote locations and better communications facilities and globalisation of business operations are driving growth in the use of teleworking. An AT&T survey conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit revealed that in the next two years, more than 80% of companies worldwide expect to have employees who work remotely. Although 64% identified enhanced productivity as the top benefit of teleworking, more than half of the 237 senior executives surveyed cited the difficulty of monitoring the output of remote workers as the biggest obstacle to its introduction.
