Bank of Ireland
Brian J Goggin, Group CEO

1. What makes your country attractive to investors?

Ireland is the most dynamic economy in western Europe, underpinned by a young and rapidly growing population, a well-educated and flexible labour force, a business-friendly environment and a low tax regime.

 2. What are the economic prospects for your country over the next three to five years?

Ireland is likely to continue to grow at its potential rate of 5%, reflecting strong productivity growth and a rapidly expanding labour force, augmented by substantial immigration by virtue of EU enlargement.

 3. How do you foresee the financial sector in your country changing?

It will become more sophisticated, diverse and responsive as customers’ needs change. It will be even more competitive and international than it is today – but still with a strong demand for trusted brands and service.

 4. What role will your bank play in your country’s future development?

The bank will continue to play a lead role in financing multinational and domestic business. On the personal side, it will enable major purchases, such as first home and protection for families.
