Sarah Breeden

Sarah Breeden, deputy governor, financial stability – Bank of England

Sarah Breeden, the Bank of England’s (BoE’s) executive director of financial stability strategy and risk, has been promoted to deputy governor for financial stability. She will take up her role at the central bank in November and succeed current deputy governor Sir Jon Cunliffe. 

Ms Breeden will be tasked with leading the BoE’s work on financial stability, and in the governor’s absence, chair the Financial Policy Committee, which advises on mitigating risks within the UK’s financial sector. She will also sit on its Monetary Policy Committee and its Prudential Regulation Committee. 

In addition, she will be a member of the Court of the BoE, chair its Financial Market Infrastructure Board, and represent the central bank on a number of national and international bodies.

Prior to her current role, Ms Breeden was the executive director for UK deposit takers supervision, responsible for supervising the UK’s banks, building societies and credit unions. She first joined the central bank in 1991 as assistant private secretary to the governor.

Görkem Köseoğlu

Görkem Köseoğlu, chief technology officer and member of the banking management board – ING

ING has appointed Görkem Köseoğlu as chief technology officer and member of its banking management board. Mr Köseoğlu will take up his position in September, succeeding Ron van Kemenade, who stepped down in April. 

Mr Köseoğlu is currently chief operations officer (COO) of ING Netherlands, where he manages its client services activities as well as its global transformation office.

He began his career at ING in 2012 as COO and chief information officer of ING Turkey, where he led its digital transformation agenda. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade at global consultancy firm McKinsey & Company.

Adrian Mullett

Adrian Mullett, innovation economy relationship executive for Ireland – JPMorgan

JPMorgan’s commercial banking unit has made its first Ireland-based hire with the appointment of Adrian Mullett. He will serve as a senior banker focusing on Ireland-based, early-stage, venture-backed companies with high-growth potential. The hire comes as part of the bank’s push to expand its innovation economy business into more markets within the Europe, the Middle East and Africa region.

Mr Mullett joins JPMorgan from CeADAR, Ireland’s national centre for applied AI, where he was senior growth and commercialisation manager, tasked with helping companies grow their businesses through artificial intelligence. Prior to that, he worked at Deutsche Bank in London as a vice-president for their global growth debt team. He also spent nearly five years as head of the technology sector at the Bank of Ireland.

Allegra Patrizi

Allegra Patrizi, managing director business and commercial – Virgin Money

UK digital bank Virgin Money has appointed Allegra Patrizi as managing director of its business and commercial function. 

She brings more than 20 years’ experience in financial services to the role, most recently as CEO of Dutch insurance company Aegon. Prior to that, Ms Patrizi was group chief risk officer at Prudential and before that, chief product officer and chief administration officer at F&C Asset Management. She began her career at McKinsey & Company, where she reached the role of partner.

Gary Ballard

Gary Ballard, head of equities – KNG Securities

KNG Securities, a London-based investment banking boutique that specialises in emerging markets, has appointed former VTB Capital global head of equity sales Gary Ballard as its new head of equities. He will be tasked with leading the firm’s expansion into the asset class and helping its clients deal in transactions where liquidity may have temporarily been reduced. 

Mr Ballard joins the firm with more than 30 years’ experience in equity sales. Prior to VTB Capital, he worked at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Barings Securities.
