The Banker’s CFO and corporate treasurer virtual roundtable is an opportunity for a group of senior, non-banking, corporate decision-makers to address topical issues, offering an insight into their strategies, challenges and needs. It is an occasion to connect this important constituency with the core readership of The Banker, namely the global banking and financial community.

In the first section, posing questions to CFOs, a key theme to emerge is cautious optimism at the state of the global economy. But while the consensus view is broadly positive, risks persist and there is a mood that the recovery could just as quickly be reversed. Sound corporate governance also remains one of the hot topics.

Also, feedback shows a growing awareness and nascent appetite for hybrid capital.

In the second section, posing questions to corporate treasurers, an interesting cross section of replies examines why corporates have been reluctant to utilise credit derivatives. Treasurers are also canvassed on their attitudes towards banks’ foreign exchange services and the impact of technology, out of which comes a demand for a more responsive service.
