When one of the first internet bubbles brought forth the 1990s’ dot-com era, Stuart Taylor, now Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group’s head of e-trading, was ready to leave his sales job at Merrill Lynch for a shot at entrepreneurship.
His first foray into a website dedicated to wedding lists proved a “shaky” endeavour, with brides and grooms who were online but grandparents who were not. Leaving wedding bells behind, Taylor began working on Merrill’s emerging e-trading strategy instead.
