The Banker’s Top 100 Central and Eastern European (CEE) Banks 2023 ranking by Tier 1 capital sees Hungary’s OTP Bank take the top spot from PKO Bank Polski, which moves into second spot. At year-end 2022, OTP’s Tier 1 capital ($8.7bn) inched slightly ahead of Bank Polski’s $8.7bn, although both banks saw year-on-year dips in their Tier 1 capital.
Poland’s Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego climbs one spot from fourth last year, with its Tier 1 capital increasing by more than 9% to $6.4bn. Santander Bank Polska moves from sixth to fourth, despite a small contraction in core capital.
