Fundanga decorated as central banker

Brady Dougan, the low-key head of Credit Suisse Investment Bank, who was the surprise replacement for John Mack, has done it again, stepping into Ossie Gruebel’s shoes after his unexpected stepdown as CEO of Credit Suisse. Mr Dougan, renowned for having worked in virtually every part of the investment bank, is the first American to head a Swiss bank.

Italy’s latest economic data must have been the best booster for finance minister Tommaso Padoa Schioppa’s spirit. The country’s gross domestic product grew at a bigger-than-expected 2% in 2006, the highest since 2000.
