The IMF talks about a soft landing for the global economy, but HSBC’s outlook for the global economy this year and next is not as rosy, with growth predicted to be lower than the IMF’s forecast of 3%. HSBC’s chief global economist explains why their economic outlook is different from the IMF’s and says the fight against inflation is far from over, even though policy rates may have peaked.
