QR payments are on the rise in south-east Asia, where exceptional economic growth, matched with rising smartphone usage, is revolutionising the regional economy and making room for the creation of a highly advanced digital payments ecosystem.

A 2023 study published by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) found that the number of smartphone users in south-east Asia rose to 675 million in 2022, equivalent to 82% of the regional population.
