Omdurman National Bank

Superior technology was a major factor in the strong performance of Omdurman National Bank (ONB) in 2002, which won it the award again this year.

Two years ago, the bank became the first in Sudan to modernise by embracing electronic technology. As a result, it now offers a range of sophisticated services, including phone banking, cash machines, smart card services and online banking.

The move has given the bank a huge competitive edge over its competitors, and this was reflected in its 2002 results. The bank posted an increase in assets of almost 74% and an ROE of 37.8%. It also strengthened its balance sheet thanks to a 29.3% rise in Tier 1 capital.
