Morocco this week hosts the 2023 annual meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, the first African nation to do so for 50 years.

Nadia Fettah Alaoui, Morocco’s minister of economy and finance, speaks to John Everington about the impact of September’s earthquake in the Al Haouz region on economic growth, government measures to protect the county’s agricultural sector, investment and trade priorities with other African states, and the country’s nascent cash transfer programme.
