Bangkok Bank

It was not just its good profit growth nor its strong presence in corporate, commercial and SME banking that made Bangkok Bank stand out in Thailand.

What particularly impressed the judges was its expansion to mainland China, which catered for the business development of its customers in the country.

Bangkok Bank began offering renmimbi services in several of its China branches. The bank also formed a partnership with China Union Pay (CUP) to provide card services to CUP cardholders in Thailand.

“It is an honour to be chosen as Thailand’s Bank of the Year,” says Chartsiri Sophonpanich, president of the bank.

“Last year Bangkok Bank’s net earnings were Bt20.3bn ($554m), up 15% from the previous year. This positive performance reflects the bank’s leadership position in corporate and business banking in Thailand, our growing personal banking franchise and our extensive overseas branch network which gives us a strong foothold in south east Asia and the greater China region.”

“This award follows a period of sustained development during which we have segmented our businesses, invested in our people and built on our underlying platform and processes to better serve our customers with a diversified range of financial services.”

“The size and breadth of our business allows us to provide strong synergies for our customers in Thailand and overseas. For the future, we will be strengthening these links to provide world class service with a Thai heart.”
