Ecobank

Net profits from Ecobank’s Mali operations slipped 7% in 2005 to CFA Fr2.1bn ($3.7m), though the bank was still able to report an eye-catching 82% RoE. But the judges overlooked shrinking profits to reward Ecobank for its ambitious roll-out of services in an underdeveloped banking market.

Investment in IT is steadily improving the customer experience, with ongoing development of new products, such as cards, internet banking, and specifically tailored services to the SME market.

Ecobank has also developed products to leverage its regional presence, particularly in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal and Togo, providing clients with enhanced services to do business in these countries.
