Sylvain Matthey-Junod

Sylvain Matthey-Junod, chairman of the board of directors – CBH Bank

CBH Bank, a family-owned banking group, has announced that Sylvain Matthey-Junod, who joined its board in January, has now been elected chairman replacing Thierry Weber, who has been chairman since 2009. Mr Weber will continue as a board member.

Prior to his work at CBH Bank, Mr Matthey-Junod was in charge of legal affairs and compliance at Pictet, Lombard Odier and Syz Bank. As chairman, he will be tasked with overseeing the reinvestment of the bank’s profits in order to pursue its growth strategy.

Headquartered in Geneva, CBH Bank currently consists of 290 professionals in 10 locations around the world. As of June 30, it claims assets totalling SFr13.99bn ($15.94bn) and a Tier 1 capital ratio of 34.63%. It focuses on wealth management services to private and institutional clients, as well as several complementary business lines, including family office solutions, asset services and structuring, exclusive private markets expertise, and bespoke daily banking and card solutions.

Gunjan Kalra

Gunjan Kalra, Asia-Pacific head – Citi Commercial Bank

Citi Commercial Bank has appointed Gunjan Kalra as Asia-Pacific head of its commercial bank. She joins from Citi's markets business, where she was most recently head of corporate sales and solutions for Asia-Pacific. In this role, Ms Kalra was responsible for the delivery of markets products to Citi’s corporate and commercial banking clients in the region. 

During her two-decade long career with the bank, Ms Kalra has held numerous leadership roles across Asia-Pacific and Latin America, and has managed businesses across various asset classes and client segments.

Lee Counselman

Lee Counselman, managing director, technology investment banking – Barclays

Barclays has appointed Lee Counselman as a managing director within its technology investment banking group. He will focus on strategic mergers and acquisitions and equity work within its software transactions team.

Based in Boston, he will report to Kristin Roth DeClark, head of technology investment banking and work closely with Ben Freeland, global head of software banking. Mr Counselman will take up his role in early 2024.

Mr Counselman previously held senior roles at Moelis & Co, where he was most recently head of software and services advisory. Before that he managed the global software investment banking team at Deutsche Bank. He’s advised companies including SAP and private equity firm Carlyle Group.

Rayan Kazerooni

Rayan Kazerooni, head of global private banking – HSBC Kuwait

HSBC has appointed Rayan Kazerooni as head of global private banking for its newly launched wealth management advisory service in Kuwait.

Mr Kazerooni will be tasked with working closely with HSBC's established global private banking centres in the UAE, Switzerland, the UK and Singapore to grow the bank's business in Kuwait. He joins HSBC from the Dubai branch of Bank of London and the Middle East.

During 2023, HSBC's private banking business has been looking to expand its geographical reach. Mr Kazerooni's appointment follows the establishment of new operations within the UAE, India and Mexico.

Carlos Zancajo Toribio, executive director – JPMorgan Private Bank

JPMorgan Private Bank has appointed former Credit Suisse private banker Carlos Zancajo Toribio as an executive director within its Singapore office.

Mr Toribio has spent more than a decade at Credit Suisse, working on its international wealth management desk, where he covered Spanish and Portuguese markets from Singapore. He began his career at UBS, where he focused on ultra-high-net-worth individuals within its wealth management business in Madrid.
