Rahul Malhotra, board member and head of emerging markets – Julius Baer

Julius Baer has promoted its current India franchise head, Rahul Malhotra, to its group executive board. He will also take on additional responsibilities as head of the bank’s emerging markets cluster, while continuing to oversee its business in India. Based in Dubai, his new remit will cover the Middle East and Africa, central and eastern Europe, Israel, Greece and Turkey. He is set to begin his new role in early 2024. 

Prior to joining Julius Baer in 2021, Mr Molhotra served as the head of south-east Asia at JPMorgan’s private banking business. Before that, he spent nearly two decades at Citi, culminating in a stint as retail banking head, Asia-Pacific for its Asia consumer banking business.

Gautam Puntambekar, country head for Malaysia – Bank of America

Bank of America has appointed Gautam Puntambekar as its country head for Malaysia. In this role, he will be tasked with expanding client coverage as well as taking on responsibility for all the bank’s businesses in the country. He will also take on the roles of principal officer for its Labuan branch and CEO of Bank of America Malaysia.

Mr Puntambekar joined Bank of America’s India branch in 2005 and most recently led its corporate banking subsidiaries team in Singapore.

Priya Kini, head of commercial banking – HSBC Singapore

HSBC Singapore has named Priya Kini as the new head of its commercial banking division. She will take on the role in January 2023 and succeed Regina Lee, who has been appointed as head of commercial banking at Hang Seng Bank, the Hong Kong-based subsidiary of HSBC.

Ms Kini first joined HSBC in 2001 and has previously held leadership positions in Singapore, Hong Kong, the UK and India. She is currently HSBC Singapore’s head of global banking, where she is responsible for leading coverage and financing solutions for the bank’s major public, corporate and institutional clients.

 

Nauman Ansari, global industry head of healthcare – Citi Commercial Bank

Citi has hired Nauman Ansari, a former Evercore corporate debt specialist, to lead its healthcare team within its commercial bank. He will be based in London and report to Gaurang Hattangdi, its global head of coverage.

Prior to joining Evercore’s Europe, Middle East and Africa corporate debt advisory team in 2022, Mr Ansari held senior leveraged finance roles at HSBC, Morgan Stanley and Bank of America.

Citi’s commercial banking unit is looking to expand its presence in high-growth and emerging markets. The unit plans to make 900 new hires over the next three years, with a focus on growth within its Asia-Pacific business.
