Singapore-based OCBC group has announced key leadership changes aimed at enhancing its Greater China coverage. Wang Ke, the current CEO of OCBC Wing Hang China, will be promoted to head of Greater China, effective from November. He will succeed Tan Wing Ming, who will return to Singapore and take on a new role as adviser to OCBC group’s CEO Helen Wong. 

Mr Wang first joined OCBC in 2012 as its head of IT in China and expanded his responsibilities to include operations in 2014. He was appointed as head of Pearl River Delta region in 2017, before becoming CEO of the group’s China-based subsidiary in 2019. 

Following Mr Wang’s appointment, Ang Eng Siong, the current deputy president and head of corporate banking at OCBC Wing Hang China, will take on the role of acting CEO. 

Mr Ang has been with OCBC since 2009. He spent six years in Singapore in various roles in risk management, finance and business development. He became chief risk officer of OCBC Wing Hang China in 2018 and head of its corporate banking business in 2022.

Michael Del Giudice, chairman of financial sponsors group – Barclays

Barclays has appointed former Citi investment banker Michael Del Giudice as chairman of its financial sponsors group. He will be based in New York and report to Jean-Francois Astier, global head of financial sponsors group. He will work closely with Christian Oberle, who was appointed as head of the bank’s Americas financial sponsors group in September. 

Mr Del Giudice brings more than 30 years of investment banking experience to the role. He was most recently a senior managing director within Citi’s global asset management business, having originally joined one of its predecessor firms, Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co in 1992.

Carsten Woehrn, co-head of European M&A – JPMorgan

JPMorgan has promoted Carsten Woehrn to co-head its merger and acquisition (M&A) division in Europe. He will succeed Guillermo Baygual, who was appointed as global head of real estate and infrastructure, as well as consumer coverage, in a reshuffle of the bank’s senior leadership in September. 

Mr Woehrn joined JPMorgan as an analyst in 2000 and has spent his entire career with the US bank. He most recently led its strategic investments M&A team in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Prior to that, he was EMEA head of infrastructure M&A.

Jill Gateman, head of middle market products and services – TD Bank

TD Bank, the US subsidiary of Canadian lender Toronto-Dominion Bank, has appointed Jill Gateman as head of middle market products and services within its commercial banking unit. She will report to Chris Giamo, head of commercial banking, and join the senior commercial bank leadership team.

Ms Gateman joins from US rival PNC, where she served as co-head of corporate banking, overseeing its east region, middle market and corporate banking segment. Prior to that, she spent more than a decade in the private equity and M&A advisory industries.
