Paul Jennings
 

Paul Jennings — CEO, British Arab Commercial Bank

British Arab Commercial Bank (BACB), a UK-headquartered international wholesale bank that specialises in supporting trade flows to and from the Middle East and Africa, has named Paul Jennings as its new CEO. 

Mr Jennings’s career in financial services spans more than 40 years. He joined BACB’s board as a non-executive director in 2021, four months before being appointed as the bank’s deputy CEO. Previously, Mr Jennings spent more than two decades at ABC International Bank, the European subsidiary of Bahrain-based Bank ABC, where he held numerous senior positions that culminated in a six-year stint as the subsidiary’s CEO. In addition, he is a board member of Bank UBAE and he has previously served on the boards of ABC Islamic Bank, Banco ABC Brasil, the Libyan British Business Council and the Arab Bankers’ Association. 

Commenting on the appointment, BACB’s chairman Yousef Abdullah Al Awadi said: “Paul is a natural fit as CEO, he is a leader with a proven track record in banking. His wealth of knowledge not only in executive leadership of financial institutions, but also of our specialist markets and product offering, makes him the perfect choice for this role. His appointment comes at a very important time for BACB following a year of strong performance across our lines of business.”

Amin Mansour
 

Amin Mansour — vice-chairman, wholesale banking business, ING

Dutch multinational ING has appointed Amin Mansour as the vice-chairman of its wholesale banking business. In this newly created role, he will be responsible for driving engagement with clients at senior executive levels and further leveraging the division’s resources across functions, regions and products. 

Mr Mansour brings more than 30 years’ experience in senior management roles in international and investment banking. During his 15 years at ING, he has held several key positions, including as global head of sustainability and most recently as global head of strategic products. 

Commenting on his new role, Mr Mansour said: “ING is very well positioned to meet our clients’ needs, especially in the areas of sustainability and sector knowledge. I am very excited to take on this new challenge and rally our extensive international network to deliver the right mix of financial solutions for our clients.”

Nishi Somaiya

Nishi Somaiya — global head of private banking, lending and deposits, Goldman Sachs

Goldman Sachs has appointed Nishi Somaiya as global head of private banking, lending and deposits. Ms Somaiya will work with the bank’s private wealth management, workplace and personal wealth, and Marcus savings and investments teams to drive the expansion of its wealth management division.  

Ms Somaiya will transition from her current role as the bank’s global co-head of growth equity, which she has held since 2020. Previously, she led the bank’s private capital business within its European Special Situations Group, which focuses on middle market loans and growth equity. She joined Goldman Sachs as an analyst in 2001.

David Kelnar

David Kelnar — head of equity private placement, Europe, Houlihan Lokey

Houlihan Lokey has appointed David Kelnar to head its equity private placement division in Europe. Based in London, Mr Kelnar will focus on providing equity solutions for the firm’s clients in the region, while working closely with its private equity team in New York.  

He joins from London-based independent investment bank Numis, where he spent three years as a managing director and head of growth capital solutions. Prior to this, Mr Kelnar was a partner and head of research at UK venture capital firm MMC Ventures. He began his career in 2002 as an analyst at Goldman Sachs. 

Mr Kelnar’s appointment is the latest in a series of senior hires to Houlihan Lokey’s capital markets team in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and follows the appointment of former First Abu Dhabi Bank managing director Andy Cairns as head of Middle East and Africa capital markets.
