Currently, there is nothing that evokes more diametrically opposed reactions in the general public than chatbots. While generative artificial intelligence (AI) tends to dominate both the tech and mainstream news, as well as most conference chat, there are very few people who celebrate interacting with a robot when looking to their bank for an answer to a problem.

Ankit Chhajer, managing director, chief information officer, head of voice, chat and conversational AI at Barclays UK, the retail division of Barclays, knows this dichotomy very well.
