Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI)

Last year BNI launched a restructuring programme called Navigation Map. The bank has now successfully completed phase two of this programme, consisting of stabilisation and turnaround.

“We are confident that Navigation Map will direct us towards sustainable long-term growth and also will place BNI as an icon of Indonesian banking, which provides quality banking product and services to millions of customers across all market segments, cultivating niche market opportunities where we have proven expertise and optimising cross-selling among our customer segments,” says CEO Sigit Pramono. The results can be seen in the figures, which show a 278% increase in net income for the year and an ROE nudging 30%. The cost-to-income ratio, at 45.7%, stands as one of the best in the region, while NPLs have been brought down from 2.07% to 1.47%. The net income figure reflects a significant growth in net interest income and other operating income, along with a decrease in loan loss provisions. BNI is now engaged in phase three of its ambitious plan, which is the transformation of the bank.
