BBVA Colombia

After several years of difficulties in the economic and financial environment, BBVA Colombia’s main objective in the past two years has been increasing profitability. This goal has been successfully achieved with an exceptional profit growth of more than 80%.

Financial margins have been increased, price policies adjusted and greater control has been exercised over expenses. BBVA has also launched special plans to open to new profitable businesses and increased the quality of risk management.

Luis Juango Fitero, executive president, says the award is “a recognition of the extraordinary and positive evolution that BBVA Colombia showed in each of its indicators, its successful strategic decisions, which defined a strong progression in commercial banking activities, the release of new and innovative products, and the increase in market share in Colombia’s financial market. BBVA Colombia has two basic strengths: ‘innovation’ and ‘growth’, which allowed it to become a reference point in the Colombian financial system.” This has resulted in “this distinction as the best bank to do business with in the country, which is foreseen as one of the leading markets in Latin America”.
