Welcome to The Banker’s new look

In this era of fast-changing technology and market disruptors, to stand still is effectively to go backwards. At The Banker, we have tracked with great interest the systemic overhaul of the global banking industry’s business models, delivery channels and technology stacks, a transformation which has sped up exponentially over the past decade.

What has become crystal clear is that banks need a digital-first mindset to compete in the modern world.

And while The Banker — like the industry we report on — has a venerable history, we are mindful of the digital trend and have also embarked on our transformation journey. We have modernised our logo and thebanker.com website, restructuring the way we present our content to align more closely with the main themes dominating the minds of the C-suite and senior leadership at banks across the globe.

We have launched five content pillars:

  • Global economies: macroeconomic trends and deep dives into country operations;
  • Regulations: tracking the changing regulatory environment;
  • Digital journeys: emerging technologies, digital transformation and the fintech ecosystem;
  • Banking strategies: sector coverage of capital markets, transaction banking and retail banking;
  • ESG & sustainability: monitoring sustainable finance and the transition to a net-zero emissions world.

This new structure will allow us to more quickly surface the information and analysis our readers are looking for.

But rest assured, we will continue to produce the high-quality, in-depth news analysis, topical features, big-name interviews and country reports that have been our stock-in-trade, as well as highlight our awards and country/regional rankings, including our flagship Top 1000 World Banks ranking.

To curate our content in line with readers’ interests, we are launching six newsletters to correspond with the pillars:

  • Sunday – Editor's blog and weekly round-up
  • Monday – Global economies
  • Tuesday – Regulations
  • Wednesday – Digital journeys
  • Thursday – Banking strategies
  • Friday – ESG & sustainability

Each week, The Banker’s editorial team is producing more online content than ever before, providing insight and analysis into industry trends and developments. But the magazine still has a special place in our hearts — and we will be releasing our redesigned magazine in January.

It is an exciting time for The Banker and our community — a fast-changing environment throws up many challenges but also presents opportunities. And this is just the beginning: we will be rolling out new website functionality in future to deliver a great reader experience.

If you have any suggestions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to receiving your feedback.
